Kupang, Nigaola.com – Governor of East Nusa Tenggara (NTT), Emanuel Melkiades Laka Lena, accompanied by Acting Head of the NTT Transportation Department, Mahadin Sibarani, welcomed the General Manager of PT. Angkasa Pura I, Aidhil Philip Julian, and his team for an official audience on Thursday (6/3/2025) at the Governor’s Office. Following the meeting with the Governor, Aidhil P. Julian also met with NTT Deputy Governor Johni Asadoma in his office.
During the discussion, Aidhil P. Julian provided updates on the management of El Tari Airport in Kupang and the company’s ongoing efforts to promote tourism destinations in NTT, particularly on Timor Island.
Strengthening Airport Facilities and Local Business Representation
Governor Melki Laka Lena expressed his full support for the continued management and development of El Tari Airport, emphasizing the positive economic impact of increased flights. He also urged PT. Angkasa Pura I to enhance the presence of local SMEs at the airport by increasing the number of stands showcasing traditional woven fabrics (tenun ikat) and local food products.
“We will continue to support the management of El Tari Airport. The increase in flight traffic at this airport certainly contributes positively to the economic cycle in East Nusa Tenggara,” stated Governor Melki Laka Lena.
Similarly, Deputy Governor Johni Asadoma reinforced the importance of prioritizing local SMEs within the airport’s commercial space.
“Prioritize local SMEs. Displaying local products, such as food and handicrafts, will give tourists arriving in Kupang the opportunity to see and purchase these locally-made goods,” emphasized Deputy Governor Johni.
This meeting underscores the NTT government’s commitment to fostering economic growth by strengthening its aviation infrastructure and supporting local businesses through strategic partnerships with PT. Angkasa Pura I. (*)
